The cost of large industrial equipment, such as motors, crushers, conveyors, compressors and heavy duty HVAC systems is a major capital expenditure. These machines require a good, clean, well-shielded power source as their foundation if they are to function reliably and avoid early abuse and termination. Your power transformer delivering power to your facility is not only a voltage transformer but it is the first line of defence against an electrical disturbance which can affect your access to your valuable assets. At Jiangsu Ryan Electric, protection is one of the most important factors of our design, and our power transformers are designed to be as protected as possible. A high-quality power transformer provides protection for your heavy equipment, and helps to keep production flowing.
Voltage Regulation That Prevents Motor Stress
Heavy induction motors are very sensitive to changing voltages. When motors are operating at higher currents, due to undervoltage, then motor overheating and insulation failure. An excessive voltage, however, can cause the magnetic core to saturate and cause torque spikes which can lead to the failure of the couplings and driven equipment. Our power transformers have tight voltage regulation characteristics, under the condition of the primary power supply fluctuations and rapid changes of load, the secondary voltage can be maintained within the allowable range. Our oil-immersed and dry-type power transformers, precision-tapped windings and low impedance design ensure stable output under any condition. This stability reduces the thermal and mechanical stress on the motor, thereby extending motor winding life and reducing unplanned downtime due to motor burnouts or bearing failures.
Robust Short-Circuit Withstand Capability
Fault currents are one of the most detrimental events in an electrical system. A short circuit downstream of a power transformer will cause the power transformer and any equipment connected to it to be subjected to forces many times greater than their normal operating rating(s). If these forces exceed the abilities of the transformer, it can fail catastrophically and worse yet, it may not limit fault current sufficiently to keep downstream switchgear and motors from failing. Ryan Electric windings are resistant to axial and radial forces, and their windings are robustly made, with the conductors tightly braced and spaced with high strength materials. In our CNAS-accredited test bays our transformers are short circuit withstood so that our transformers can withstand multiple fault events without any distortion of the windings or damage to the insulation. This characteristic ensures the power transformer's ability to withstand fault currents while permitting the necessary current to flow to downstream protection devices allowing them to safely open the circuit without damage.
Superior Insulation and Dielectric Strength
The role of the Electrical insulation system of a power transformer is to give the electrical protection to the equipment which it supplies to it from the transient over-voltages such as lightning or switching surges. High voltage transients may be capacitively coupled into the transformer, or even worse, generate flashover inside the transformer and propagate high voltage transients into the secondary network. High quality epoxy insulation makes our cast-resin transformers excellent in terms of dielectric strength and partial discharge resistance. Highly refined insulating fluids, with premium cellulose/aramid paper for the highest level of impulse resistance in our oil immersed transformers. These are tested in our 110kV test laboratory with Lightning Impulse tests and Partial Discharge tests, each transformer attaining or surpassing IEEE and IEC withstand levels. This high performance insulation provides trouble-free power to heavy equipment, and helps minimize insulation degradation in motors, generators and control electronics.
Thermal Performance That Prevents Overloading
Transformers and equipment they power can be killed by heat. Excessive loading together with high winding temperatures caused a rapid insulation ageing and raised the risk of a catastrophic failure. In addition, when a transformer is over heated, it can also trip off line, which results in an instant voltage drop to the motors and potentially to mechanical parts. Safe oil-immersed transformer temperature rise under emergency overload conditions is guaranteed through thermal optimisation of core and winding geometry, cooling channels, radiators and forced-oil cooling. Each design has been tested to guarantee that the temperature rise conforms to a particular range, which is indicative of the thermal performance. Thermal strength is a power transformer's ability to handle thermal stress during high demand periods, without having to start and stop the power transformer or experience voltage sags from the power transformer's thermal protection trips.
Whether in voltage regulation, withstanding short circuits, withstand high dielectric strength or thermal endurance, a good power transformer is the cornerstone of your industrial power system. Jiangsu Ryan Electric possesses dual 35KV/110KV CNAS accredited laboratory, which integrates various testing methods such as routine test, type test and special test using modern testing equipment, and uses advanced materials and precision manufacturing technology to ensure products are manufactured and tested with high quality. The result is power transformers that protect your valuable equipment from electrical threats.
